Comedy Thrills for KZN

Directly from shows in the Seychelles, Mauritius and onboard an international cruise liner, South African comedy legend Barry Hilton will perform in Durban and Port Edward during May. Thereafter, he’ll jet off for gigs in Namibia and the United Kingdom.

A globetrotter who brings laughter to the world, Barry has performed on five of the seven continents and kick started 2016 with a stellar performance at the world renowned Sydney Opera House.

After his sold out show at Sibaya in February, there was a cry for another show in Durban and the one subsequently planned for 10 May sold out in a flash.

Barry will be road-tripping to Port Edward on 11 May to present a motivational talk to a corporate audience. After a wildly successful three decades as a comedian, Barry has amassed all that he has learnt into a humorous, yet insightful talk, about what it means to be successful, and how you too can be uniquely successful at whatever it is you put your mind to. Through his inimitable humour he shares with his audience how important small daily successes are in working on the bigger picture.

The highlight of Barry’s KZN trip will undoubtedly be his EVOLVER show at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort – more than thirty years after his first professional theatre show there. It’s a Scandal was the first comedy show featuring a full South African cast.

“Back in those days, it was almost impossible for South African comedians to get time on stage,” says Barry who originally broke into the SA comedy scene by pretending to be British. “It was devious, but what could I do? South Africans just weren’t given a chance. When my cover was finally blown, I’d paid my dues and was accepted into the inner circle.”

“There has been a gigantic surge in comedy in South Africa and we’re producing phenomenal talent who are enjoying great success locally and abroad. I’m so thrilled to still be a part of it after more than thirty years. This particular show at the Wild Coast will bring back many happy memories and will be very special; I’m so looking forward to it,” says Barry.

With all the bad news bombarding South Africans on a daily basis, comedy is a great escape. Enjoy a night of laughter with Barry Hilton at the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino Resort in Port Edward on 12 May. We only hope it won’t take this SA comedy icon and Lifetime Achievement Winner another 30 years to come back to Port Edward for a comedy show. Tickets are available at www.quicket.co.za
