This month’s Hermanus Comedy Club on Sunday, 25 September promises to have you laughing out loud with hilarious sets from popular Cape Town based comedians Carl Weber, Tracy Klass and Justin Ray Stoffels. These immensely talented comedians have worked with South Africa’s biggest comedy names and regularly perform to rave reviews and sold out audiences in the country’s most established comedy clubs.
A previous winner of Phat Joe Cape Town’s Next Comic and the Graca Comedy Showdown, Bloemfontein ‘farm boy’ Carl Weber is an audience favourite at SA’s most popular festivals, including Rocking the Daisies, Nandos Comedy Festival, National Arts Fest in Grahamstown and the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival.
Tracy is known for her ‘growing up disgracefully’ stance on life and being dragged towards middle age and beyond – kicking and screaming rather than floating gracefully on a cloud of Clarins and botox. She also gives a unique take on those issues women hold very dear; children, weight, aging and food. As one of the few female stand ups in South Africa, Tracy takes an irreverent look at what women find funny – themselves.
Justin Ray was raised in the Overberg but moved from Greyton to Cape Town after high school. Inspired by comedians like Richard Pryor, Louis CK, Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock, Justin is tirelessly working the Cape Town Comedy scene and has been described as “crazy, weird and wonderful”.
“There has been a gigantic surge in comedy in South Africa and we’re producing phenomenal talent who are enjoying great success locally and abroad. I’m so thrilled to still be a part of it after more than thirty years,” says Hermanus local and internationally renowned comedian Barry Hilton who hosts the monthly comedy club.
Tickets (R100) can be bought at the Nou Gaan Ons Braai Stall opposite Oskars, online at www.barryhilton.com or call 0827311311.
